Finally, it’s here! A truly simple way to manage your job and career development brought to you by the Michigan eLibrary (MeL) and LearningExpress. Registration is simple and takes just a few seconds. Once you are registered, you can use this one-stop resource for doing several important things that used to be very difficult to manage! As you might guess, this resource helps you create and manage MULTIPLE versions of your resume and cover letters. However, you can also get career guidance and you can even access FREE resources to improve your technology skills– this includes topics like Adobe Software products, WordPerfect, Microsoft Office, and even Windows and Mac operating systems.
Where this resource really shines, though, is when it comes to making and managing your resume online. It’s very easy and you don’t have to be a wizard at formatting text to make it look good. The website does it all for you and it lets you save or send your resume and cover letter in different formats so you can use it however you want. The best part is that printing your resume is VERY easy since it automatically prepares a nice Adobe PDF version of your documents so you can be sure they print out perfectly.
So how do you get started? It’s as easy as going to the Michigan eLibrary (MeL) website and clicking on the link for the Job and Career Accelerator button you should find on the left side of the page. If you are using this resource from a Michigan library, you should be taken directly to the Job and Career Accelerator website where you can get started. Otherwise, if you’re accessing this outside of a Michigan Library, you’ll need to login first with your Michigan State ID or Driver’s license OR you can use your library card number from any library in the drop-down list you’ll find on the web page. This step is to make sure that only Michigan residents (the people who pay for this resource) have access to it online.
If you have any other questions about this resource, ask a staff member or check out one of our other print resources for helping you craft resumes, cover letters, and doing job searches.
