A used book and bake sale sponsored by the Friends group will take place at the Corunna Branch on Thursday, May 23rd from 10:00am to 8:00pm and on Friday, May 24th from 10:00am to 2:00pm.

The Corunna/Caledonia Branch Friends of the Library operate a used book store in the library building located at 210 E. Corunna Avenue.

The Friends Used Book Store is open on Wednesdays from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm, Thursdays from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm and Saturdays from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.

They accept your donations of gently used books and videos.

Craft lovers are invited to visit the Bancroft Branch on Tuesday, May 21st at 5:30pm.  The branch manager Kim Kennedy says, “Bring a craft you are working on or want to get started.  This is intended for adults as a time to get together to work on scrapbooks, altered books, crochet, beading, etc.”  The first meeting will be an organizational one where the group will decide meeting days and times.  Call 989-634-5689 for more information.

Public Hearing of the 2013-2014 Proposed Budget

The Community District Library Board of Trustees has scheduled a Public Hearing for Wednesday May 29th, 2013, during a special board meeting which commences at 7:00 p.m. at the Morrice Branch of the Community District Library.  Morrice Branch is located at 300 Main St. Morrice, MI 48857.

The proposed library budget for Fiscal Year 2013-2014 will be the subject of this hearing.

The proposed budget will be on file in the Community District Library Administrative Offices during normal office hours located at the Corunna Branch at 210 E. Corunna Ave, Corunna, MI 48817.  Community District Library is barrier free. Any person requiring special assistance should call 989-743-3287 within 24 hours of the meeting.

On Tuesday, April 30th from 5:00pm to 7:00pm teens and adults are invited to get creative with Altered Book Art presented by Rosie Chapman at the Bancroft Branch of the Community District Library.  Participants will use paint, glue, yarn, etc. to transform old hardcover books into works of art!  Preregistration is required for this program.  For more information please call 989-634-5689.
